Who we are
The Weekley Legacy Project is a Michigan-based nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding educational access and opportunity for graduating seniors across Kalamazoo Public Schools high schools, with a focus on students who demonstrate resilience, effort, and community involvement.
Our flagship initiative, The Rising Scholar Award, provides scholarships to students who may face financial or structural barriers to postsecondary education, yet continue to show commitment to academic progress and personal growth. Rather than emphasizing perfection, our selection process takes a holistic approach; considering each student’s hardships, accomplishments, involvement, and future goals.
At our core, we believe that students who remain connected to structured environments, such as school clubs, athletics, employment, enrichment programs, or community service, are more likely to persist and thrive beyond high school. Our mission is simple: to invest in students who are already investing in themselves, and to help ensure financial limitations do not determine their future.
Mission Statement
To support graduating seniors across Kalamazoo Public Schools through scholarships, mentorship, and opportunity pathways, ensuring financial barriers never limit educational or career potential.
Vision Statement
We envision a Kalamazoo where every student, regardless of background or financial circumstance, has the opportunity, support, and resources to pursue life after high school with confidence. Through scholarships, mentorship, and community investment, The Weekley Legacy Project aims to strengthen the future of Kalamazoo by uplifting the next generation of leaders, scholars, and professionals.
